Recent studies have reported some cases of anaplastic large cell lymphoma associated with textured surface breast implants. Breast implant associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare and treatable type of cancer that forms in the scar tissue surrounding the implant. According to these studies, 28 cases of BIA-ALCL have been reported in Canada. Twenty-four of them are associated with textured BIOCELL breast implants manufactured by the company Allergan.

There is no need to be alarmed, especially if you have no symptoms. That being said, all women with breast implants should ensure regular postoperative follow-ups with their plastic surgeon.
